Their instructors, led by founders Brian and Jenni Gard, bring over 17 years of combined professional experience from military, civilian, and industry backgrounds. The academy offers tailored training for all levels, from first-time gun owners to advanced shooters seeking instructor certification. Brian Gard

Brian has been in the industry full time since 2012 and teaches all courses including Concealed Carry, AR-15, Defensive Pistol, Shotgun, Medical, Mass Shooter, Basic Pistol, Basic Rifle, Basic Shotgun, and certifies other instructors as a USCCA Training Counselor. He also specializes in laws including use of force and lawful carry.

Jenni Gard

Jenni is an energetic instructor who focuses on our specialty classes. She primarily teaches all of our women’s classes, offers children and family private classes, and certifies and trains new instructors as a Training Counselor.

Tom Coyle

Tom carries because his family and friends are worth protecting. He values nothing more than the life and well-being of those he holds dear.

Belle Coyle

Belle began her journey in firearms after her eldest son expressed an interest in joining the military and she wanted to seek education for both herself and her son. Since then, she’s taken every class possible to continue her own education and educate others. Belle firmly believes your safety is important, the safety of your family is important, and the safety of our communities is important.

Chris Frakes

Chris is an avid waterfowl and upland hunter. He received his concealed carry license in 2013. In 2024, he decided to become an instructor for concealed carry in Illinois. He found Paladin Protection Academy and had an amazing experience. He Fell in love with teaching and continues to expand his offerings.

Heath Ryan

Heath is Paladin Protection Academy’s newest team member/ instructor who is standing by to assist our patrons with signing up for classes or helping them pick out that new firearm they have been thinking about. He is a retired Navy veteran with 12 years’ experience as a small arms marksmanship instructor

Jeff Toeppe

Jeff has been a part time instructor since 2016, and his passion is equipping House of Worship Safety Ministry Teams. He is the Safety Team Co-Leader and Training Coordinator at a mid-sized church in Caledonia WI. He also serves nationally in the Faith Based Security Network (FBSN) as Deputy Membership & Regional Director, Region 5 Leader
